Two Burlington men are dead after a two-car head-on collision on US-34 in rural Henderson County.
At around 9:00 am on Thursday near Gladstone, a vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Samuel Anthony Brown, was headed westbound on Highway 34, when his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons, according to Illinois State Police. Brown’s car moved directly in the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by 85-year-old Robert Alden Kemp.
Kemp attempted to veer off the road in order to avoid the accident, but was unable to avoid being struck.
Both drivers were pronounced dead on the scene. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
KBUR has opted to release selected images of the accident, as families of the deceased have been notified.
