The B-17 Bomber is available for tours and flight experiences at the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport.

A unique experience awaits those in the area at the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport. A classic World War II B-17 Bomber has arrived in Burlington, and is offering tours and even cruises above Burlington’s skyline.

The Experimental Aircraft Association flew the plane into town on Thursday, tours are available through Sunday for $10 for individuals and $20 for a family. A “flight experience” on the plane will cost $475 and includes a one-year membership in the EAA. The event’s organizer, Bob Noll says you should prepare for more than just a ride in the skies.

“It’s not going to be sitting in a seat like you’re going across country in an airliner,” Noll says. “Once you get in the air you’ll be able to visit each station…and having been in the nose which is all glass…that view is incredible.”

During the flight you can shift between stations in the plane, including two gunners areas with large window views out of the plane. Noll says you can save money by calling ahead to pre-book your flight, call 1-800-359-6217.
