Galesburg Man Arrested for Soliciting a Minor

Galesburg, Il (WGIL)-  A Galesburg man is in the Henry County Jail on charges of indecent solicitation of a child and attempted to meet a child, grooming, and distribution of explicit material to a minor.

WGIL reports that 52-year-old Alan J. Beaty was arrested by Galesburg Police on January 30 after Kewanee Police obtained an arrest warrant with a $500,000 bond from Judge Terence M. Patton.

According to the Kewanee Police, the department initially received a complaint on January 29 that Beaty was sending sexually explicit photos to an 11-year-old child through Facebook Messenger.

Police say that Beaty was informed and acknowledged the child’s age and continued sending the explicit photos while also attempting to obtain explicit photos from the child as well as attempt to arrange a meeting.

Indecent solicitation to commit predatory sexual assault is a class one felony. If convicted, sentencing is could be somewhere between 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Beaty’s next court appearance will be February 10th in Henry County.

Police advise that parents and guardians should be vigilant of suspicious activity on all social media accounts of their children.
