Burlington, Ia- Traffic on US route 34 in the Burlington area had to be rerouted for a time Wednesday due to an overturned semi-truck.
Police put out a warning of diverted traffic on social media due to an overturned semi- tanker truck on US Route 34 under the Roosevelt Avenue overpass. Exits were blocked off and crews began working to clear the wreck.
The truck was hauling several thousand gallons of ethanol, which was spilled onto the roadway when the truck rolled over.
Fire Chief Matt Trexel told the Hawk Eye that an environmental clean-up company will be needed to address any soil that may have been effected by the spilled ethanol.
Fire crews finished cleanup at about 5:45 PM.
