The Burlington Bees had dropped five straight games heading into Friday night’s series finale with the Beloit Snappers.
Burlington outfielder Hilton Richardson helped the Bees put an end to that streak with a 2-1 victory. It the final game of a 3-game series and the Bees’ final home game this week.
Richardson hit his second double of the game in the bottom of the tenth inning to get in position for a Bees win. Whit Merrifield followed up Richardson’s hit by being hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Gerard Hall then came to the plate and deliverd the game-winning hit, a single to center field.
Richardson finished with a pair of doubles while Jacob Kuebler added 2 hits in the victory. The other RBI came off the bat of Julio Aparicio.
Keaton Hayenga lasted six strong innings for the Bees, only surrendering one run on 8 hits with a pair of strikeouts. The win went to Sam Runion (4-2), who didn’t allow a single run in the final two innings.
The Bees open up a three-game series at Kane County tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with the pre-game who on KBUR to begin at 5:40 p.m. Nick Devlin will call the play by play.
