
Iowa’s Ag Secretary Mike Naig was in Burlington Tuesday morning to discuss issues and concerns with people that gathered at the Downtown Ivy Bake Shop.
Naig says that the number one thing Iowans are telling him to focus on is water quality in the state. Next he says, agri-businesses are concerned about the foreign and domestic markets. Concerns over tariffs and the impact at the farm level are also one of the major discussion he is having as he travels around the state. Naig says workforce is another point of discussion and concern for Iowans. The pool of qualified employees is something that Naig says that business must have. Finally, the Ag Secretary says that broadband and high speed internet are a key to the future of rural America. he says the USDA and others are working on these issues and more as they work to craft a new farm bill in Washington D.C.
